Annie, Nat and I met Beth and Jeannie at Haversham last weekend to check up on things post Sandy. The short story is that there was no significant damage done to the place. One big oak went down across the driveway, Jeff Hall won’t have to remove as many shingles from the Ponds side roof, (Mr. Puddicomb has them now), and at least one good sized stone was washed out from under the end of our dock, but otherwise we came through pretty much unscathed.
A longer, more detailed story is told by Annie’s photos, which you can check out at the following link. The beach is very different, in that the beach front is now inland of the jeep trail, at least 50 feet from where it once was, and there is no dune left at all. But the sand was only washed inland about 75 yards (about halfway to the Pond) so it looks like it will form a nice new ‘backfill’ foundation to the new dune that is no doubt already forming itself.
