This week Jim did some analysis of our property taxes compared to our neighbors. He writes:
If (as claimed) the assessments are based on buildable lots (irrespective of acreage), on the water, (all are), with a neighborhood multiplier, (same for all), then the ‘Land Value per Potentially Buildable Lot’ should be similar for all these properties. A nice, round average might be $1.5m. We are assessed at twice that. Go figure.
